In 2018, 15.0% of the population in Mosgiel Central were regular smokers.

  • examine the inter-relationships between smoking and other socio-economic variables and how these change over time.

Dominant groups

Analysis of smoking behaviour in Mosgiel Central in 2018 compared to Otago Region shows that there was a higher proportion of people were regular smokers, a higher proportion of people who were ex-smokers and a decreased by proportion of people who had never smoked regularly.

Overall, 15.0% of Mosgiel Central's population were current smokers, 28.7% were ex-smokers and 56.3% had never smoked regularly, compared with 12.3%, 23.8% and 63.9% for the Otago Region respectively.
