Please note that in the 2018 Census, where data are not provided, responses are sourced from administrative datasets, in line with the procedures developed by Statistics New Zealand to supplement the 2018 dataset. Due to this, there is no "Not elsewhere included" category in 2018, and users should use caution when comparing to earlier Census years.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Campus West in 2018 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Accommodation and food services (156 people or 26.9%)
  • Education and training (90 people or 15.5%)
  • Retail trade (69 people or 11.9%)

In combination these three industries employed 315 people in total or 54.4% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Concord employed 5.3% in Accommodation and food services; 7.9% in Education and training; and 10.9% in Retail trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Campus West and Concord were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (26.9% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (15.5% compared to 7.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (2.6% compared to 11.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (3.6% compared to 10.9%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Campus West increased by 162 between 2013 and 2018.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2013 and 2018 in Campus West were for those employed in:

  • Professional, scientific and technical services (+30 persons)
  • Accommodation and food services (+27 persons)
  • Health care and social assistance (+27 persons)
  • Education and training (+21 persons)
