Analysis of smoking behaviour in Wairoa District in 2018 compared to Maungataniwha-Raupunga shows that there was a higher proportion of people were regular smokers, a higher proportion of people who were ex-smokers and a decreased by proportion of people who had never smoked regularly.
Overall, 28.1% of Wairoa District's population were current smokers, 25.7% were ex-smokers and 46.2% had never smoked regularly, compared with 26.0%, 22.3% and 51.7% for Maungataniwha-Raupunga respectively.
