Analysis of the language spoken by the population of Whakaki in 2018 compared to Area Outside Ward shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those who spoke Māori, or Māori and English.
Overall, 78.1% spoke English only and 17.9% spoke Māori, or Māori and English, compared with 74.9% and 18.8% respectively for Area Outside Ward.
