Income quartiles allow us to compare relative income-earning capabilities across time. Analysis of the distribution of households by income quartile in Wairoa District compared to Hawke's Bay Region shows that there was a similar proportion of households in the highest income quartile, as well as a similar proportion in the lowest income quartile.
The most significant change in Wairoa District between 2006 and 2018 was in the Lowest group quartile which showed an increase of 253 households.
