Dominant groups

Analysis of smoking behaviour in Featherston in 2018 compared to South Wairarapa District shows that there was a higher proportion of people were regular smokers, a higher proportion of people who were ex-smokers and a decreased by proportion of people who had never smoked regularly.

Overall, 18.8% of Featherston's population were current smokers, 31.8% were ex-smokers and 49.4% had never smoked regularly, compared with 13.4%, 30.2% and 56.4% for South Wairarapa District respectively.

The largest changes in the smoking behaviour of the population in Featherston between 2013 and 2018 were for:
