Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Papakowhai in 2018 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public administration and safety (201 people or 15.4%)
  • Professional, scientific and technical services (153 people or 11.8%)
  • Education and training (135 people or 10.4%)

In combination these three industries employed 489 people in total or 37.6% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Porirua City employed 12.5% in Public administration and safety; 10.5% in Professional, scientific and technical services; and 9.1% in Education and training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Papakowhai and Porirua City were:
