Dominant groups
In 2018, there were 33 people who caught public transport to work (train, bus or ferry) in Shiel Hill, compared with 741 who drove in private vehicles (as a driver, or passenger).
Analysis of the method of travel to work of the residents in Shiel Hill in 2018 compared to the Environment Canterbury shows that 3.47% used public transport, while 77.918% used a private vehicle, compared with 2.8052% and 75.5742% respectively in the Environment Canterbury.
