Smoking behaviour

In 2018, 5.8% of the population in Shiel Hill were regular smokers.

Dominant groups

Analysis of smoking behaviour in Shiel Hill in 2018 compared to Dunedin City shows that there was a lower proportion of people were regular smokers, a lower proportion of people who were ex-smokers and a increased by proportion of people who had never smoked regularly.

Overall, 5.8% of Shiel Hill's population were current smokers, 21.7% were ex-smokers and 72.5% had never smoked regularly, compared with 11.6%, 22.4% and 66.0% for Dunedin City respectively.
