Dominant groups
Analysis of the language spoken by the population of North East Valley Knox in 2018 compared to Dunedin City shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a similar proportion of those who spoke Māori, or Māori and English.
Overall, 73.8% spoke English only and 2.1% spoke Māori, or Māori and English, compared with 84.4% and 1.7% respectively for Dunedin City.
The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in North East Valley Knox was French, with 2.8% of the population, or 72 people speaking this language at home.
