Dominant groups

Analysis of the household types in Dunedin City in 2018 compared to Otago Region shows that there was a lower proportion of one family households as well as a higher proportion of group households. Overall, 60.7% of total households were one family households, and 7.5% were group households, compared with 63.6% and 1.6% respectively for Otago Region.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of multi-family households. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.8% compared to 25.0% in Otago Region while the proportion of multi-family households was 1.5% compared to 1.6% in Otago Region.
