Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Tainui in 2018 compared to Arthur Street shows that there was a higher proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 20.8% of the male population was aged between 0 and 14, and 9.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 9.2% and 5.6% respectively for Arthur Street.

The major differences between the age structure of Tainui and Arthur Street were:
