In Opoho, 45.4% of households were made up of family type 'couples with children' compared with 38.9% in the Dunedin City in 2018.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the family types in Opoho in 2018 compared to the Dunedin City shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 45.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 11.1% were one-parent families, compared with 38.9% and 15.8% respectively for the Dunedin City.
There were a lower proportion of couples without children in Opoho, 43.5% compared to 45.3% in the Dunedin City.
