The size of Dunedin City's labour force in 2018 was 68,424 persons, of which 17,940 were employed part-time and 45,888 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) in Dunedin City in 2018 compared to Otago Region shows that there was a lower proportion in employment, and a higher proportion unemployed. Overall, 93.3% of the labour force was employed (0.0% of the population aged 15+), and 6.7% unemployed (0.0% of the population aged 15+), compared with 95.3% and 4.7% respectively for Otago Region.
