Analysis of car ownership in 2018, indicates 54.3% of households in Broad Bay-Portobello had access to two or more motor vehicles, compared to 80.8% in the Taieri.

The ability of the population to access services and employment is strongly influenced by access to transport. Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of the households in Broad Bay-Portobello in 2018 compared to the Taieri shows that 91.4% of the households owned at least one car, while 4.3% did not, compared with 93.4% and 1.1% respectively in the Taieri.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion who owned just one car; a smaller proportion who owned two cars; and a smaller proportion who owned three cars or more.
