Analysis of car ownership in 2018, indicates 28.9% of households in Fernhill had access to two or more motor vehicles, compared to 55.6% in the Tainui.
The ability of the population to access services and employment is strongly influenced by access to transport. Dominant groups
Analysis of the car ownership of the households in Fernhill in 2018 compared to the Tainui shows that 70.2% of the households owned at least one car, while 18.2% did not, compared with 92.0% and 3.6% respectively in the Tainui.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion who owned just one car; a smaller proportion who owned two cars; and a smaller proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 41.3% of the households owned one car; 22.2% owned two cars; and 6.7% owned three cars or more, compared with 36.4%; 40.4% and 15.2% respectively for the Tainui.
