Welcome to the Whanganui District Community Profile

The Whanganui District Estimated Resident Population for 2016 is 43,800, with a population density of 0.18 persons per hectare.

The Wanganui District Council area is located on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, about 200 kilometres north of Wellington and 450 kilometres south of Auckland.

The Whanganui District Community Profile provides demographic analysis for the District and its suburbs based on results from the 2013, 2006 and 2001 Censuses of Population and Dwellings. The profile is updated with population estimates when Statistics New Zealand releases new figures.
