Dominant groups

Analysis of the household types in the Wellington City in 2013 compared to the Wellington Region shows that there was a lower proportion of one family households as well as a higher proportion of group households. Overall, 62.8% of total households were one family households, and 8.3% were group households, compared with 65.4% and 2.7% respectively for the Wellington Region.

There were a similar proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of multi-family households. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.8% compared to 24.2% in the Wellington Region while the proportion of multi-family households was 2.3% compared to 2.7% in the Wellington Region.
