Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of the Wellington City in 2013 compared to the Wellington Region shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 17.3% of the population was aged between 0 and 14, and 9.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.5% and 13.2% respectively for the Wellington Region.
