Wadestown is bounded by the waterway in the north, the railway line and Hutt Road in the east, Sar Street, Baker Street, Grosvenor Terrace, Goldies Brae and the Town Belt in the south, and the suburb of Wilton, Norwich Street and Wilton Road in the west.

Settlement history

Colonial settlement of the area dates from 1840, with land used mainly for farming. Population was minimal until the late 1800s. Rapid growth took place during the 1920s. The population increased slightly between 2001 and 2006, and then was relatively stable between 2006 and 2013, due to little change in dwelling stock.
