Newlands - Ngauranga is bounded by Pelorous Street, Padnell Crescent, Stewart Drive, Bracken Road, Horokiwi Road, Warrington Grove and the suburb of Woodridge in the north, the suburb of Horokiwi and the harbour in the east, and Fraser Avenue, the suburb of Johnsonville, the Centennial Highway and Chapman Street in the west.

Settlement history

Colonial settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for farming. Some growth took place during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Significant development did not occur until the late 1950s, with rapid growth during the 1960s and 1970s. The population increased gradually between 2001 and 2013 as new dwellings were added to the area.
