Mt Victoria is bounded by Majoribanks Street, Roxburgh Street, McFarlane Street, Moeller Street and Palliser Road in the north, the suburb of Hataitai and Alexandra Road in the east, the suburb of Newtown in the south, and Dufferin Street, Ellice Street and Kent Terrace in the west.

Settlement history

Colonial settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, with land used mainly for farming. Growth took place during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Gentrification and renovation of many homes occurred during the 1970s and 1980s. The population increased gradually between 1996 and 2013 as new dwellings were added to the area.

Mt Victoria is an established residential area bordered to the east by the Town Belt.

This small area encompasses most of the suburb of Mt Victoria, and a small part of Oriental Bay.
