Melrose is bounded by Antico Street, Manchester Street, Rodrigo Road, Imperial Terrace and Regal Gardens in the north, Queens Drive, Tavistock Road and Sutherland Road in the east, Carlton Street and Hornsey Road in the south, and generally by the Town Belt in the west.

Settlement history

Colonial settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, with land used mainly for farming. Population was minimal until the late 1870s when land was subdivided. Significant development occurred into the early 1900s. The population increased gradually between 2001 and 2013 as new dwellings were added to the area.
