Dominant groups

Analysis of the ethnic population in the Thames-Coromandel District in 2013 compared to the Waikato Region shows that there was a larger proportion of people who identified themselves as European, a smaller proportion of people who identified themselves as Māori and a smaller proportion of people who identified themselves as Pacific Peoples.

Overall, 84.5% of the population identified themselves as European, 15.8% as Māori and 1.5% as Pacific Peoples, compared with 73.4%, 20.7% and 3.6% for the Waikato Region respectively.
