Dominant groups

Analysis of the ethnic population in the South Wairarapa District in 2013 compared to the Wellington Region shows that there was a larger proportion of people who identified themselves as European, a larger proportion of people who identified themselves as Māori and a smaller proportion of people who identified themselves as Pacific Peoples.

Overall, 86.5% of the population identified themselves as European, 13.2% as Māori and 1.9% as Pacific Peoples, compared with 73.2%, 12.4% and 7.7% for the Wellington Region respectively.
