In 2013, 12.8% of the population in Ahuriri Ward were regular smokers.

  • examine the inter-relationships between smoking and other socio-economic variables and how these change over time.

Dominant groups

Analysis of smoking behaviour in Ahuriri Ward in 2013 compared to Napier City shows that there was a lower proportion of people were regular smokers, a higher proportion of people who were ex-smokers and a increased by proportion of people who had never smoked regularly.

Overall, 12.8% of Ahuriri Ward's population were current smokers, 26.4% were ex-smokers and 52.7% had never smoked regularly, compared with 15.6%, 25.0% and 50.9% for the Napier City respectively.
