Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Napier City in 2013 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Manufacturing (3,120 people or 12.0%)
  • Health care and social assistance (3,075 people or 11.9%)
  • Retail trade (2,739 people or 10.6%)

In combination these three industries employed 8,934 people in total or 34.5% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, the New Zealand employed 9.4% in Manufacturing; 9.6% in Health care and social assistance; and 9.4% in Retail trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Napier City and the New Zealand were:
