Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s, with land used mainly for grazing. Land was subdivided for rural residential development in the early 1900s. Rapid growth took place from 2001 as large numbers of new dwellings were added to the area, particularly between 2006 and 2013, largely in the Parklands Residential Development. Growth is expected to continue.
