Dominant groups

Analysis of the ethnic population in the Kāpiti Coast District in 2013 compared to the Wellington Region shows that there was a larger proportion of people who identified themselves as European, a similar proportion of people who identified themselves as Māori and a smaller proportion of people who identified themselves as Pacific Peoples.

Overall, 85.3% of the population identified themselves as European, 12.6% as Māori and 2.6% as Pacific Peoples, compared with 73.2%, 12.4% and 7.7% for the Wellington Region respectively.

The major differences between the ethnic groups responses of the population in the Kāpiti Coast District and the Wellington Region were:
