Dominant groups

The size of the Hutt City's labour force in 2013 was 50,874 persons, of which 9,792 were employed part-time and 37,032 were full time workers.

Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) in the Hutt City in 2013 compared to the Wellington Region shows that there was a lower proportion in employment, and a higher proportion unemployed. Overall, 92.0% of the labour force was employed (60.6% of the population aged 15+), and 8.0% unemployed (5.2% of the population aged 15+), compared with 92.8% and 7.2% respectively for the Wellington Region.
