Welcome to the Far North District Community Profile

The Far North District Estimated Resident Population for 2016 is 62,000, with a population density of 0.08 persons per hectare.

The Far North District is located at the northern-most tip of New Zealand’s North Island, about 200 kilometres north of the Auckland CBD.

The Far North District Community Profile provides demographic analysis for the District and its suburbs based on results from the 2013, 2006 and 2001 Censuses of Population and Dwellings. The profile is updated with population estimates when Statistics New Zealand releases new figures.
