Lower Aramoho

Introduction and key statistics

Lower Aramoho is an established residential and industrial area. Lower Aramoho is bounded by Hylton Mountain Bike Park, the locality of Blueskin and the suburb of Upper Aramoho in the north, the Whanganui River in the east, Russell Street and the suburb of St Johns Hill in the south, and the locality of Blueskin in the west.

Settlement of the area dates primarily from the late 1800s. Significant development occurred during the early 1900s, aided by the opening of the railway line. Growth continued from the 1940s. The population declined slightly during the late 1990s, and then increased marginally between 2001 and 2006, a result of some new dwellings being added to the area and an increase in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.

Major features of the area include Hylton Mountain Bike Park, Te Mana Park, Parkdale Drive Reserve and one school.
