Castlecliff North

Introduction and key statistics

Castlecliff North is an established residential area, with some rural areas in the north-east. Castlecliff North is bounded by the locality of Blueskin in the north, the suburb of Mosston, Manuka Street and Polson Street in the east, Bamber Street in the south, and the Tasman Sea in the west. Castlecliff North is named for the northern part of Castlecliff, which is thought to be named for the isolated stacks off the cliffs seen when the first European settlers arrived.

Settlement of the area dates primarily from the 1880s. Significant development occurred between the 1920s and 1940s. The population declined from the mid 1990s, a result of little change in dwelling stock and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.

Major features of the area include Castlecliff Beach Domain, Castlecliff Golf Club, Castlecliff Beach and one school.
