The Occupation data identifies the occupations in which the residents of Grenada Village - Paparangi - Woodridge - Horokiwi work (this may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This data describes the occupations of employed people. It applies only to people aged 15 and over who were employed in the week prior to Census.

Data for occupation are coded using the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO). The occupation classification is updated periodically to take account of emerging occupation groups and changes to the structure of the labour force.

Data are presented for the broad occupation groupings. For 2006 these were coded using ANZSCO, the most recent classification. These are presented in profile.id® where no time series is required (on the first tab). For time series, the data are presented using the older ASCO 2nd edition classification, to ensure data comparability. See 'Time Series Occupation Categories'.

An analysis of occupation data for Grenada Village - Paparangi - Woodridge - Horokiwi residents in 2006 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (747 people or 27.1%)
  • Clerical and administrative workers (501 people or 18.2%)
  • Managers (444 people or 16.1%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,692 people in total or 61.4% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, 33.9% of Wellington City's residents were employed as Professionals; 14.1% as Clerical and administrative workers; and 16.6% as Managers.
