Strathmore Park is an established residential area. This small area encompasses most of the suburb of Strathmore Park, and small parts of Breaker Bay, Miramar and Moa Point. Strathmore Park is bounded by Broadway in the north, generally by Beacon Hill Road, Lyons Crescent, Signallers Grove and the Eastern Walkway in the east, generally by Rangitatau Reserve in the south, and Miramar Golf Club in the west.
Colonial settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for farming and market gardening. Growth took place during the early 1900s, with further development in the 1930s due to the construction of public housing. Expansion continued during the 1960s and 1970s. The population increased slightly between 1996 and 2006, a result of new dwellings being added to the area.
